I am very excited to announce our new bull. He doesn't fit the mold of what we normally use, yet does at the same time.

MK SleepEasy (or, 'ol Sleepy as we call him)

Awesome Viagra x MK Salt Shaker

He's different in that he has a ton of horn, which is backed up by a sire with 73"+ horns and a granddam (Starlight) that is over 80". Yet, he has the body built by his maternal grandparents Saltgrass and 4K Cracker Jackie, both of which were World Grand Champions. The best thing about his pedigree is that both his parents, and all of his grandparents are known for their production.

Picture was taken back around January, I believe. FWIW, He was not shown, so he has seen very little feed. Some feed to help him along, but definitely not pushed like a show bull. Mostly grass, hay and some alfalfa. Well, what do yall think?

he is a heck of a bull.with horns in his bloodline like that.he should add lots of horn to your cattle.
 
I really like this bull. I really like the Awesome Viagra bull. This is totally different from what you normally show on here. Should put some horn on your calves, you may get more white than you care for but I do like him. Will be interesting to see what he will do.

I've always been a fan of Awesome Viagra, too. I think that if he wouldve had more color he would be more used. I am excited about the possibilities of Sleepeasy. We've been looking for this type bull for a long time. He has a correct phenotype and enough muscle to keep our herd headed in the direction of our goals, and at the same time has the horn growth and horn genetics to immediately take our herd to uncharted levels of horn growth. I believe Sleepeasy combines horn and body like no other bull I've seen.

As far as color is concerned, I've always said that quality will outshine color. It's always been thought that solid colored animals don't do as well in the show ring, but I've seen many solid colored animals do win big on the show circuit. Personally, I enjoy lots of white on longhorns. Not sure why. Of the cattle that are being bred to him this year none have a lot of white, except one. So hopefully we'll get some good color out of him.

Beefy looking bull. Maybe it's just me, but doesn't that picture look like somebody photo-shopped him and gave him an ear transplant?? There's a red bull picture somewhere with white ears. :lol:

Its funny in longhorns how that happens. The vast majority of white cattle that I've had or seen that were nearly solid white, have had red ears and usually red just above the hooves (as if they stepped in red mud a few inches deep). I don't why that happens like that, but it is interesting.

I actually had a heifer born last week out of a black and white spotted cow, I've posted her here recently, and Boomerang CP. The cows dam has a black head and neck and spotted body, her sire is a red lineback bull. Boomerang has a black and white sire, and a brown and white dam. This heifer is a white with red ankles and red ears. Doesn't make any sense to me, but the surprises in color are one of the many things that make longhorns who they are. The heifer has a touch of roan on her back, and is actually getting more spots by the day. But that white with red points is an odd deal.

I would have to look back at Overlord CP's (Boomerang's sire) pedigree but there's some Butler blood in there somewhere, or could also be in the dam. I have an Overlord daughter-she's a red and white line back, big cow with huge high twist horns, have had several people try to buy her. May let her go after I wean the heifer that she has on her now. I have three of her daughters, out of three different bulls, all very good animals.

But I agree with you about the coloration of this breed-one of the things I like about it, sure as heck don't get bored looking at them. Of course white cattle don't bother me anyway, we have several straight Butler animals. And just because they're white doesn't mean that's all that they will throw.

Thanks. After seeing the handful of calves his owner has, I am pretty excited about the crop we will have from him this spring.

one thing is for certain, you can sure take great cattle photos...i just don't have the knack for it...(maybe i don't have the cattle for it)..nice looking longhorn.

Thank you very much. I very much enjoy taking pictures of cattle, and pride myself on the quality of the pictures...

However, I did not take this picture. The previous owner took the above picture
