Fannie Mae was a major player in that problem.

mam
/mam/
noun
noun: mam; plural noun: mams
1.
INFORMAL•DIALECT
one's mother.
"my mam would have had a fit if I'd gone out dressed like that"
2.
INFORMAL•US
a term of respectful or polite address used for any woman.
""You all ride them horses down here?" "Yes, mam.""

Nope! Sorry, but that last one ain't right
Ma'am is a contraction of the polite and formal Madame.
(though it has become acceptable to leave out the apostrophe)
So the correct form would be "Y'all ride them horses down here?" ... "Yes, Ma'am."

Mam is colloquial for mother so "My Mam would've whipped my hide to be seen dressed like that"

 , does that mean you are a mod?
I didn't have anything specific in mind. But the Epstein theories are interesting and of course there were two horrific mass shootings this past week.
I have noticed a distinct lack of current events being discussed and wondered if I missed a memo disallowing it.
Where is everyone??

I'll bet that low-life had his hand in the cookie jar from that hedge fund he managed.

I told me children to all me mum. Didn't work. 😂🤣😭👏🏽
In countries they call their mothers mum do babies and younger children day mummy? 🤣

Sorry. I'll try and be more careful

If we're going to discuss mass murder the US Government committed the largest in our history of mostly women and children.

An interesting topic well worthy of discussion and its own thread.
Not exactly a current event tho

Im beginning to understand why everyone left.

Careful now if you are pointing fingers...should it not be 'I'm'?
Not everyone left, some left but keep coming back.

So Cottage & Carpenter, husband and wife, felt bored and decided to come and stir the pot a little. Be nice you two :p

ma'am
/mam/
noun
ARCHAIC•NORTH AMERICAN
a term of respectful or polite address used for a woman.
"excuse me, ma'am"
BRITISH
a term of address for female royalty.
BRITISH
a term of address for a ranking female officer in the police or armed forces.

I'll be darned but you could be right. If I were archaic I might have known that.

I take extreme exception to them calling the use of ma'am archaic.
And I guess that makes YOU archaic too TT, since you used the word when you answered Jan
