Has anyone made any estimates of how many calves have died from Curley Calf Syndrome?

Thanks,
CSM

No, but I've done a lot of digging through the origin and multiplication of the defect and it appears that not only was this defect Arthrogryposis Muliplex apparent 14 or 15 years ago, affected lines were cleaned up only to be contaminated again by another source. In the general Angus population I would expect fewer cases than carriers by a large margin due to the outcrossing plan followed by most Angus breeders added to the fact that many carrier lines are not the type and kinds you want more than one shot of.

I would say that it would be impossible to tell because so many cases go unreported. ( the old shovel and shut up method )
