This is not about politics! This is a subject that is very important to all of us involved in the cattle industry. It is for information purposes only, not to start a debate. This is a critical issue for us. Critical enough for me to stand on principle and take a strike for it. Please help me out and don't turn it into something that might get anyone banned from these Boards. If the Moderators don't delete it, I would like to ask them to lock it to prevent any discussion.

Kerry supports curbs on livestock antibiotics

Washington, D.C. - John Kerry's campaign has assured animal-welfare groups that he would support legislation to curb the use of antibiotics given to livestock, a position that is unpopular with farmers.

Antibiotics are commonly given to hogs and poultry to speed their growth and prevent disease.

Kerry's pledge came in answers to a questionnaire for Humane USA, a political action committee that endorsed Kerry during the primary season.

Kerry has "voted with us time and time again," said Michael Markarian, chairman of Humane USA, the political arm of groups including the Humane Society of the United States and Farm Sanctuary, which promotes vegetarianism.
