Cummins 6.7 mpg's

Help Support CattleToday:

20mpg. at 60-65mph. and 14mpg. 80-85mph. running empty. Towing with a combined weight of 30K+ 7-8mpg. at 65mph. And towing a tractor or around 15k about 11-12mpg. at 65mph. Mpg's have a lot to do with wind drag. My truck is a 2011 dually with 3.73 gears and a manual trans. Almost have 70k on it and has never been back to a dealer for any kind of trouble so far.

Mine is a 07 6.7 daully 4x4 Manuel, and stock it got up to 20.5mpg empty highway and a good strong 18mpg idleing around feeding cows and more normal driving. Pulling grossed at 30k it would get down around 8 or 9mpg. Now that I doesn't have the egr or exhaust filters anymore and it has a 175hp programmer it gets up to 25mpg highway. And pulling as much as you can with a pickup it only bottoms out around 11mpg. That 1600$ I spent removing the stuff and getting the programmer will pay for itself in about a year for me. Plus I don't have to mess with those filters.

2009 2500 Quad cab long bed single wheel. 373 gear Automatic tran. 18.5 mpg highway. All around 14 to 15 mpg.
That's great for an automatic. Still stock I guess?

Thanks for the replies. That's good to know my current truck gets 19-21 on highway and 11 towing, and doesn't make the power the 6.7 does.

A neighbor a couple miles up the road got a new 3/4 Dodge 6.7 and his dad told me he was getting 12.7 MPG. He went on to say he wished he would have kept his 5.9.

Hwy driving unloaded with a 3rd gen 6.7 you would get around 14-15, do the deletes and tune it and expect around 20. I've never seen anyone with a 6.7 deleted or not get close to 25mpg.

That 25mpg is in my 07 with the work done and me driving 55mph empty on a flat road, that was just to see what I could do. 22mpg is pretty easy to get with more normal driving.

I never saw were you mentioned getting 25mpg...

1700 RPM is the magic line for my '09 2500, Quad, 4x4, Auto, LB. Under it, you can get 19-20 empty/14-15 with the cattle trailer if you have a soft foot. If you want/need to run over 65mph it will drop 14 empty/11 full or lower. I had the same truck but an '05 w/5.9. Both bought new and while the 6.7 is a brute but I think I liked the fit and finish of the '05 better. Also, the 5.9 engine while less powerful did alot better on the fuel. One GREAT thing about the '09 is the jake break. I will never own another truck without one of those. It has really came in handy and slows the truck down very well. It has saved my butt more than once with a load on. Also its great for slowing in the snow.

I don't haul to GVW often. However, with the price of new diesels I think this rig will be with me quite a while. Oh I have 66k on the '09 and sold the '05 with 135k.

Good luck.
