Just had results of scouring calf sample.<br>Does anyone know if this is able to be picked up by soon to calve cows and passed onto offspring.<br>Has anyone any ideas on beating this problem?Thanks in advance.

Crypto is a zoonotic disease which means it can be passed to any species, including you. Be careful handling the calf. Here is a link to an article on cryptosporidium. It is a parasite. The reason it is so difficult to get rid of is that it goes thru a stage where it lives in a hard cyst that protects it from nearly everything. It is communicable to humans and other mammals. There is no treatment for a calf with crypto, other than supportive. It's a really tough illness to combat, is easily spread, and can be a long term problem.
