Coyotes

Help Support CattleToday:

I have game cameras dotted around my pastures so I know for sure what is making the rounds. I keep a mini donkey that HATES anything resembling a canine. So far she has killed 4 coyotes since January this year. She is sneaky about it. Because of the game cameras I can tell where they are entering from. That is where I hang the carcasses of the dead ones, on the barbed wire fencing.. Maui pretty much smashes them into a pulp. I found coyotes hate the smell of their own dead and pretty much give the place a pass until they completely decompose. My neighbor has a couple of Anatolian shepherd guard dogs and while they leave cattle alone they have messed with other animals on the place, horses, pigs, goats, etc. The mini didn't kill them but she has connected enough, leaving them limping, where they give the place a wide berth.
