about how many pounds will a young heifer or bull gain on florida pasture during the winter when grass is plentiful but not green. We use a 24% block mollassas and we are looking for average daily gain? I figured about 1/2 to a pound per day. let me know if this is right?

Our Red Angus and Red Angus Hereford heifers gain 2.25 pounds a day on average from poor quality pasture and mediocre hay with no supplements other then minerals.

Its hard to say since there are so many variables. Temperature is right for them to really put on the weight but it will really depend on their nutrient intake. The nutrients in our perenial pastures really leach out with the moisture and provide nothing more than filler but if you got things like ryegrass or other things in the pasture you may be surprised. In my situation, I conservatively estimate 2 lbs/day. Have had them do as much as 4 though.
