Cows being bred early

One of my steers and my young (8 month) bull were trying to breed one of my Simmental cows yesterday. One problem. The cow hasnt had her calf yet. Does anyone have a reason for this? I didnt ask the people I bought the bred cow from if they had a pregnancy test done on here so it is possible that she is not pregnant but I doubt it.

If they were just trying to jump her, that's OK. If she is getting close to calving, she can be putting out hormone smells that are confusing the calves. BUT, if she is STANDING STILL, while they jump her, I would be worried about her being pregnant. Jeanne
