I'm Baaack... It has been a very busy summer. We are very nearly done hauling all the hay in, except for some stuff we bought. It was a very long haying season, this is the first year we have EVER taken a second cut, and it was double the first cut, so that really dragged things out. It is hard to believe it is the middle of SEPTEMBER already! Time sure flies  . A couple days ago DH was moving the tractor a few miles from field to field to load bales. And I finally had time to go out and take some photos....We've checked cows numerous times but with DH around it is impossible to take many photos.. he can't stand wasting time you know. So, here are some photos of the main part of the herd, there are around 80 pair in this pasture. Enjoy, and I enjoy hearing your thoughts on the cattle and photos!

So, I'm going to start with one of my Daughter's cows. This is a 2 year old out of her very first bottle calf... She is mostly Red Angus with a touch of Simmental in her.

So we've gone to using Charolais on all the cows except the one's I want replacements for, which run with the Shorthorn and Angus bulls for 21 days and then we switch to the Charolais bulls for the second cycle. Pretty happy with the calves!

All look great Randi, too many to make individual comments but that first one the 2yr old with her 1st calf caught my eye as having held her condition well yet reared a beaut calf. Was she given any help feed wise?

I like that 78 heifer as well as the one you like... The steers look good, but the one from the 13 year old cow could have a bit more girth in the loin... These are just little nit-picky things.. they do look good :)

Beautiful - the cows, the calves, the pictures, everything! They all look good, but if I had to choose some favorites I'd say the 111 cow and her steer calf, the 32 pair, and the blue roan cow & her calf, and the red blaze face heifer 182.

Thanks so much for sharing!

I really, really like the looks of your cattle, especially the #32 pair. Plus, the scenery's not too bad, either. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all, 32 is one of my best cows. Out of one of my best cow families. It is one of those lines that you keep every heifer and you don't have to wonder if they will make good cows. And quiet too.

122 the blue roan is a pretty darn good cow, wish her udder were a bit better supported, but so far we have had no problems with her. Kept 1 heifer off of her a few years ago, and she has a much nicer udder.

Nesi, that 78 heifer is going into the replacement pen...

This one stopped me:

Will you keep this lovely heifer?
