i bought a thin 5 yr old brangus cow thru sale wed.brought her home put in pasture alone with hay and water.gave 2 gallons of feed twice a day. now she has scours,i suspect from too much feed too fast. now what should i do to stop it. thanks.

Cut back on the grain.
Have your veterinarian out to examine the cow, collect a blood sample to test for Johne's Disease, and a fecal sample to examine for parasite eggs/cysts/larvae.

Mainly, because... they aren't very effective.
If you're going to spend $$ deworming, you might as well give an injection or drench - and know that the drug is actually going to get there and do the job - so long as you use an effective product at the appropriate dosage.

I buy hundreds of calves a year and have a cow herd and sometimes giving shots doesen't even work.I think the only way to worm is orally.I use synanthic some of the others are fine i just have very good luck with it. If you are going to give shots i would only use dectomax or cydectin.
