Cow making calf raw

My cow I bought recently gave birth to a seem to be healthy heifer ,the calf has thick yellow poop ,which is pretty normal from what I can gather,but the mama cow is licking the calf raw on the rear .Do I just let nature take its course or is there something I need to do?This is my first calf and want to make sure I do what I need to do......Any help/input would be greatly appreciated :tiphat:

If it were me, I'd give it about two weeks and see what happens. Sounds like the calf is new and the newness will wear off shortly and the ma will start worrying more about eating than doting on her new calf.

Thanks J ,the calf is 2 days old ,but its rear is RED,so I wanted to seek you alls advice,thanks and that will be what I do is wait.... :tiphat:
