Hey guys

We have a couple of feeder calves (probably about 500 lbs. each right now) I was wondering how much hay you think they should get a day? There's virtually no grazing right now with snow on the ground. I gave them a bale a couple of days a go and it's just now gone. Is one square bale every 2 days about right?

Depends on the weight of the sbale, quality of the hay and the amount of waste. Probably aorund 12-15 pounds of hay a day per head if it's decent quaity.

That sounds about right... one bale every other day. Must be about 60-65lb bales.. Did they eat it all up?

well i was going to give them a bale a day but i noticed that the bale wasnt gone the next day so i gave them a day to eat the remains they arent very heavy bales...maybe 40-45 lbs...decent hay but not great
