261,240 souls drew the losing hand, 838 today. Population of Wood county my home is 45,129 can you imagine that if I woke up tomorrow and the county was without of any people what would you or I think could add smith county next door with 230,000 plus to it and be close to being empty.
And God bless them.. but we’re aware that people die all the time right???? Those numbers might seem scary at first glance. But then you dig deeper and they’re not. It’s really that simple.

Surely you’re joking. There’s something about compliance.... well let’s just say it’s not very American. I have a right to leave my home without a mask, a mask which according to the CDC does little to nothing anyways.
JUST LIKE you have the right to stay in your home if you’re afraid to leave without it.
I believe you are way behind on the CDC's policies on masks. Early on the CDC said we should save our limited supply of masks for healthcare workers. They said masks protect others from you, rather than you from others. Now that masks are plentiful, they have reversed that policy and are saying that masks also can reduce your risks. Other countries have known of the effectiveness of masks for years, so I suspect the CDC knew even early on, but did not want people hoarding masks.

Quote from the CDC
"SARS-CoV-2 infection is transmitted predominately by respiratory droplets generated when people cough, sneeze, sing, talk, or breathe. CDC recommends community use of masks, specifically non-valved multi-layer cloth masks, to prevent transmission of SARS-CoV-2. Masks are primarily intended to reduce the emission of virus-laden droplets (“source control”), which is especially relevant for asymptomatic or presymptomatic infected wearers who feel well and may be unaware of their infectiousness to others, and who are estimated to account for more than 50% of transmissions.1,2 Masks also help reduce inhalation of these droplets by the wearer (“filtration for personal protection”). The community benefit of masking for SARS-CoV-2 control is due to the combination of these effects; individual prevention benefit increases with increasing numbers of people using masks consistently and correctly."

You say compliance is not very American. I disagree. What you seem to think of as compliance, I call respect and cooperation. Fortunately most Americans are willing to comply with some rules, because without that, scenes like what is playing out in Portland on a nightly basis would become more common. You have the right to leave your home without a mask and I have the right to refuse to allow you in my home or business without one. I'm not sure why you seem to imply people who aren't willing to go maskless should stay at home rather than simply wearing a mask. I get the feeling you did not think that sentence through.

If compliance was American, well we’d be British.

I'm not scared of Covid for myself. I'm pretty sure I'd be just fine. But there is a generation of people out there that built this country and earned their golden years and I'll be damned if I'll be the reason they gasp their life away in a room with no friends or family. Some don't seem to care, the old "well they were old and useless anyway" sort of thought process. Not saying we need to shut the country down, but we do need to do what ever it is we can do to protect those at risk. We get into our vehicles and for the most part obey the rules of the road. Those rules aren't just for our self preservation, but for the others we share the road with. Don't hear anyone moaning about how the evil gov't makes them use a signal light or drive the right direction on a one way street, or... horrors.... stop at a red light....
Anyway... end of rant.
I have gotten into the habit of putting my seatbelt on every time i get into a vehicle, but I hate being told by the g-ment that I have to or I will be fined for not wearing one. Usually most things are about money if you dig deep enough. seatbelts will probably save your life, but insurance companies don't get monthly premiums from dead people....not to mention life insurance settlements, or paying long term care for those mangled up but not killed in an accident.
its just cheaper for the establishment for me to wear my seatbelt.

If rebelling against Democratic government was American, well we'd be...

Surveys show that a majority of Americans support a national mask mandate. Government acting according to the will of the majority is anything but tyranny.
Yep they are starting impeachment against one of those mandating governors.
Are you able to take a crap without government instructions or intervention?

I hadn't heard the impeachment story, so I googled it to see who "they" were. Kalkaska county board, representing a population of 17,000. It amounts to a hissy fit.

Well, government does have regulations on where and in what sort of facilities I can take a crap in, so I guess I can't crap without their intervention. I'm not about to have a tantrum about it, though.

We just voted the last tyrant in America from the highest office in the land. At least the American voting majority saved the democratic republic of the United States Of America.
In my entire life no matter if I liked the current administration or not , I believed they were duly elected.
I will never believe this puppet was, we just slid to banana republic status ceding power back to the monarchy. We just sent all our work back overseas. The Bushes, Biden’s and Clinton’s have been screwing us to death for decades. One reason he is hated so this was to have been Jebs or Hillary’s turn. We finally got a corrupt guy on our side in office and you couldn’t stand it. But that’s what socialism is about total control of the masses.
NAFTA was a real winner for us bet the new China lap dog helps us even more. Also bet we will be in foreign engagements again.
All that lobby money hasn’t been paying off well for the military complex.

I believe Ben Franklin had something to say about folks who would trade essential liberty for little temporary safety...

One man's tyrant is another man's hero. I am sure "he" will not be the last of either category - regardless of anyone's leaning. I am not sure the new guy will save the republic. I believe we need to save the republic from those who write executive orders in direct conflict with the constitution, from those who grant big favors/money to their friends and relatives, from those who go there and never leave - taking money for themselves and making a career of talking. From those who want to take money from those who work and contribute and give it to those who don't. From those who want to meddle in the affairs of the rest of the world. I could go on. Now, read this again. Which side I am talking about? These actions fit the last several administrations and will likely apply to the new one. At least we get the opportunity every few years to try to improve on things - based on the many diverse views of those who vote.

If anyone thinks the biggest issue this country faces is covid and whether to wear a mask - then I am truly discouraged about our future. The big issues are DEBT and morality.

I believe I could find better people at the local feed store to serve in government than those people we have now - regardless of party. Problem is, those feed store people might turn corrupt after a few years.

I'm sure we have no real idea of the pressure put on every elected official in Washington from the minute they walk into the capital building. You can work with the "family" or end up in a hole in the ground or just MIA. That money is not free.
