Why is it illegal to sell heroin and cocaine? Or drive drunk? Or drive 100 mph? Should it be a matter of personal responsibility? If I want to drink a pint of whiskey, snort a line of cocaine, and drive 100 mph, isn't it my body, my choice? Other people can choose to stay home and protect themselves if they don't feel safe with me on the road, right?
We make reasonable infringements on "personal freedom" all the time. There's no reason to draw the line at public health measures.
When it comes to illegal drug use, impaired driving, excessive speeding, or riding your horse on the interstate are responsibilities of government to keep citizens safe and orderly.
A big problem with this covid-19 is the government not knowing what is factual and true and regulating citizens based of misinformation. Then the information gets shuffled around and the new version is what is suppose to be followed. After repeated changes of previous edicts soon there is the belief of deception and mistrust.
