COVID-19, cattle prices, blah, blah, blah

Help Support CattleToday:

Saw the market report from yesterday's sale here.As high or higher than last week on light weights. Around 800# steers were off a few cents sometimes. 800 lb heifers holding steady.

Here it seems feeders are down 15-20 while weigh cows and bulls are up 5. Got a message from one market basically begging for slaughter cows/bulls as the meat is flying off the shelves I guess the supply stream is low.

Many people are stockpiling lower cost food like burger, and steak houses are closed for months... So packers would rather pay a little more for cows than grind fats. I expect the kill plants will have to slow, or perhaps even close temporary, as workers get sick. Cull cows won't be worth much without slaughter capacity. :(

I am bringing in a few cull cows Monday and then grilling some steaks.

I heard there were probably 60 people in the sale area at Abingdon sale today. Poured rain so numbers were low. Few hundred

Here's the sales report for Friday.
Numbers were down for sure. Looks like prices were too. Same way here yesterday. Problem is there are not enough calves to fill orders.
Looks like cows and bulls sure traded well.
