Country goes to town

Help Support CattleToday:

My daughter and son-in -law live in New York and love it. She works at Montefiore Medical Center and her husband is a pharmacist at a store right across the street from her hospital. She is a clinical pharmacy specialist in infectious diseases. They ride to work together.
I worry about their safety every day. They have no fear. Always attending shows and enjoying everything. Eating at fine restaurants. My daughter loves the shopping.
Hope to get up there one day. Have not been since 1962. I was a sophomore in high school and was permitted to go on the senior trip since it was to be the last one to New York. Had a great time.
Enjoy your trip. Send some more pictures.

Especially around there. Never seen a place like that where people wouldn't look you in the eye.
I disagree. Been to NYC many times and I think some of the friendliest people I've ever met.
Agreed. They'll help you find the right Subway train, the right Italian restaurant. you just have to look as hayseed as me.

Glad you guys had a different experience. That wasn't my experience when I was there, I'm used to people saying hello when you meet. Seemed to me that if someone saw you look at them, they'd look down or away pretty quick. Didn't intend to get too far off.

Jo, she looks happy to be there. Is that where she's headed to school?

Jogee.......the pic you took of the statue, were taking a ride on the Circle Line? Or a ferry?

Have a good time! Great family vacation! :)

I don't know I'm not there but it looks like the ferry. The Bug went and left mom and dad at home so we can worry and not embarrass her. This is one of those "loosen the reigns" type things that comes with child rearing I think. Am nervously eating my words at the moment but I have to stay consistent and give her all the free reign she earned less she is to buck and not get properly weaned.

She is still undecided. Colleges are showing a lot of interest in her and I wish she'd go on and make up her mind. I think she is liking the attention she is getting. She's earned it so I shouldn't complain but it still does little to ease my anxiety or her mom's. Just gotta remember its about HER and not us.

I've been to NYC a few times. The best part about the trip was leaving. I didn't care for it at all. I like my hills, trees, cattle and such.

Jo it don't seem like that long ago the Bug was just a little girl sitting at the campfire with us and I was trying to get her to sing songs while I played the guitar. She was too shy  Boy how time flies!

Me too. Can't wait to leave while I'm on the way there. Only go if I have to.

Love Florida. Like New Orleans. Liked Vegas. So it's not the cities. I can actually find parking in those places. Raleigh was good too.

Jogee she's pretty. Takes after the wife?

They grow up so fast don't they? Its going to be tough next year because she will be the last to leave home and the place is not going to be the same without them.

Thanks Backhoe. She does. Her real beauty is her heart and she gets that from her mom too.

I thought for sure you had left South GA and was in the big city. I wondered when you fried those delicious looking catfish.
That will be a great trip for your daughter. I only had one to let go. All it took to finally let go was when she took the job in New York. We have to let go. My doctor friend kept telling me for years that I had to do that. It is not easy, but we do what is best for them and let them do what they are happy doing,no matter where it is.

Still don't make it easy though does it Williamsv? Looks like my children will be scattered all over this country before its over with. I'll probably have to trade the cows in for a big truck where I can ease around the country and drop in on them unexpected like. So in a few years if you get behind a big diesel pickup truck that's just easing aimlessly down the highway don't go into road rage because it might be me.

Forget NYC. Go to "Upstate" NY and out into the countryside. Some of the prettiest country in teh USA. Jogee what does she plan to study?? Any idea yet??

TB, my wife has a farm on Grindstone Island, NY. It's beautiful in the summer, not so much in the winter. I've been through New York City by boat a few times, but never set a foot on the ground. I think the city is to fast for me.

Absolutely...I don't move that fast and darn sure don't talk fast enough to make conversation with them.

She really likes chemistry but any math or science would make her happy.
With her credentials she should be able to pretty well pick her school with no problems. She's gonna make you proud "Dad". ;-)

Pretty sure there is a high end math school in Troy NY. Colder than a hore's heart up there though.

Absolutely! Lots of folks forget about the fact that NY is not just NYC.

Jogee, I'm sure your daughter will do very well in school and in life. You and the Mrs did something right.....for sure. :)
