There has been a lot of discussion about Mountain lions. Neighbor called this afternoon and said he had the dumbest cougar in the world in a tree in his yard. His dogs had put it up a tree. His dogs were barking. Stuck his head out the back door to yell at the dogs to shut up. Saw that the dogs were at the base of the tree looking up. He looked up and could see the cat from his back door. Multi purpose Border Collies. Treeing Border Collies. 50 feet from his driveway. 50 yards from his house. Maybe a quarter mile from my house.

Nice. Has it been weighed and measured?
No he was pretty small and skinny. A young cat that its mother must have got killed somehow. It hadn't been eating very good. Neighbor called the game dept. They said don't want them hanging around a house. Said to shoot it and they would pick it up after the weekend. No use wasting a tag on it.

Sadly, better dead than going after the dogs or even a person in the state of malnutrition. Glad that the neighbor was able to take care of it before it caused him to lose a dog.

He has about 10 assorted cow dogs (including my pup's mother and full sister). Something attack one of his dogs would find itself being bitten on every corner. That might have been cougars original plan but quickly found out it had bitten off more than it could chew.
