Hi to everyone. i have quite simple question but i can't manage get my self documented on the web. I need to buy a cattle shelter for 100 animals. i was told that for an average of 25heads the dimensions must be of aprox 50x25 feet squared. what would the cost be for a 1300 squared feet shelter in aluminium very with excellent ventilation and winter heating?

I'm confused and have some questions about this one.........

What do you mean you can't get yourself documented on the web?

Why on earth would you want an enclosed shelter for cows?

If your dimensions are for 25 head, what about the other 75?

Aluminum? You're going to have every meth-head out there tearing the siding off of that building.

Winter heating? Why? The cattle are wearing leather jackets.

Where are you located? 100% of "correct" responses to your post would be based on your location, climate, etc.

Unless you are planning to have cattle in the Arctic Circle, I can't imagine you would need a heated barn for your cattle! Cattle have excellent winter coats, and their body temperature is several degrees higher than humans. When given a choice "most" cattle will prefer to stay outdoors (with windbreaks and/or 3-sided shelter) during periods of cold, sleety, rainy, windy weather. Also, lot depends on the breed. Some breeds are very cold tolerant, while others are not.

So...help the posters answer your questions better. Your location? Your cattle breed?

Rather than building one large shed, I would build several loafing sheds.

If you need to build an enclosed heated barn to keep the animals in during the winter, you might want to consider a milder climate. The cost to build, heat, hired help to clean and maintain the building would be phenomenal.

I woudln;t think that even WY you would need heat in a cattle barn. The cows will give off plenty of heat, the trick will be air circulation, moisture eliminattion and venting the gasses from the bodily functions and not creating drafts

that is good news. now arriving to a conclusion, the cattle needs a housing, correct (see picture) ? what would the cost of structure like this cost for 100 bufalos? (i understand that it is an approx guess) this is situated in vermont.

I guess that i am not capable :s ( it just does not include the picture between the brackets). howevere since that you have seen it, what would your guess be? 20 50 100 thousands? (not for the indian one... that one is like the credit card: unpriceable)

Too many variables by region. My estimate for MO would be way off for WY. The idea of an existing dairy certainly has merit. With the numbers of dairys that are shutting down all over the country one would think you could find something.
Hoards Dairyman is pretty much the publication of choice by most dairys. It will cost something to subscribe to the online version but it may be worthwhile. Their calssified ads cover everything dairy
