Cost of Using a Maternal Bull ?

Help Support CattleToday:

@simme I was just thinking about the "weaning weights have not gone up that much" statement and how far weaning weights have come since the '50's on this ranch and in the industry in general. Almost 300 lbs per calf increase on this place. I think that's quite a bit, maybe I'm wrong. And have never played the terminal / maternal / optimizer (what is that?) game.

Breed for better females, the steer end will look after themselves. If you want to take those females and breed them to any other breed than what you are using, you might change colour and frame size but the logic stays the same.
