The rules state any submitted photo must be taken by the member or spouse. Is it possible to expand the rules to include other family and friends? For instance, I have photos of me as a baby that were taken by a great aunt. Also one of my great great grandmother that was taken by a photographer back in the 1800s. I don't want to violate any rules.

Take a photo of the photo.

photo of a photo that didn't come out perfect but it's the only one in existence. The light reflected off the glass but will do the same off a glossy paper photo. (original 'photo' was taken in mid 1800s...civil war. My great great grandfather)

Having said that, I don't know if i like it much.......... what's to stop someone from taking a photo of an image they find on the internet and claim it as their own?
Answer...nothing.
The 'honor system' will have to stand on it's own I suppose, but It's not as if we're talking about a 24 kt gold plated trophy for the winner...
