I am at the quoting phase of having a concrete floor put in my Barn. Specs are as follows:
1. 2400 square feet of floor space
2. 4" thick concrete
3. Pour in three sections.
4. Footings where sections meet
5. 3/8" Rebar on 16" X 16" grid
6. French drain in center of floor running 100' out
5. Floor slopes from edges to center to allow for drainage
6. Brush finish to floor surface
Did I leave anything out? quotes are averaging $6.00 sq ft

We quit using rebar several years ago and now have fiber put in the concrete. Don't know that fiber is better than rebar, but it is cheaper and definitely better than using nothing.

I was also going to suggest PEX heat tubes but then I saw you were in Texas. Then again in the summer, I run spring water through my PEX to cool the garage and house... :D

I always thought there were only 2 kinds of concrete.... cracked and gonna crack :D

Concrete will crack whatever you do. If it has joints in it, it will usually crack at the joints.

A slow curing will prevent some cracks, i.e. wetting while curing etc.

My question about this barn is the drain in the floor. If there is any hay fed in the barn, it will stop up the drain.
