Do to overstocking I have decided to pretty much eliminate my commercial herd this year as it is too much work for one person and feed may be an issue if the fall, winter and spring so far are any consideration.. So my commercial heifers are going into a replacement sale on Wednesday and I have a few pics of them (well the ones that kind of cooperated ;)). They were and are on grass and hay only even in extreme temps no grain or creep. Sorry about pic quality as I only have a camera phone as of now..Btw they are March '08 heifers

Thanks for all of your replies...

Thanks Keren :) , I hope they do go for actual replacements as they are structurally sound and very deep bodied (that's why I kept them over the winter ,,,I wanted them ..) But who knows now a days here with everything, they may just go straight to slaughter...

I know, it always feels a little better if they go on to be breeders for someone, instead of freezer camp. They are my kind of heifers and I'd love to have them in my herd (regardless of colour).

But we do what we have to do, and as painful as it is to admit, they look like they'd be awfully tasty too :D

Best wishes for the sale

im int in knowing what these sell for.

round here id hafta give 550 or more ea im thinkin.

i need some cows like that but i just dont have the money to buy any more animals...i dont make nuthin off the cows as it is...

Here are the prices I got for those that were interested 1 Canadian dollar = 0.82802 U.S. dollars...

5 RMX 755LB 108.50 -------$819.175 = $4095.875

4 MXD 765lb 111.25-------$851.06 = $3404.25

4 MXD 873lb 105.00-------$916.65 = $3666.60

3 T/W 735lb 113.00--------$830.55 = $2491.65

1 Red 976lb 96.00--------$936.96 = $936.96

So I totalled $14595.32 for an average of $858.54 per head.. In U.S. funds it would be $12085.241 and average $710.88

Not bad ,better than last year, but still way off from where it should be. I think I might have broken even or better..I still have to pencil this out..

All heifers were age verified and had a vacc. cert from the vet . They were also documented as being estrumated and dex'd when vaccinated and had not had any bull exposure. Don't know or even think that made a difference in price..

You did good HD. I was buying replacement heifers this past weekend and figured yours should run around the $800 mark. :cowboy:
