You hear them talk about it every year, but the next year it's still the same. Why can't they have a play-off system in college football?

What ever? The SEC is the toughest conference in football anybody can beat anyone and everyone is a rival of sorts.

Lets face it every school and conference plays a fairly safe Out of Conferece Schedule. That is because home games bring in more money. If you play a bigger school or one used to TV converage they want to play at their place every other year. Where a smaller school or unknown school is content to play for a small piece of the pie and to get exposure. For them it is a way to increase athletic funding and get cheap adviertisement especially if they look good.

I would bet on the SEC over the PAC 10 anyday. The only advantage the northern teams have is the media is on their side and the SEC beats up on themselves all season.

It seems to me that the NCAA is missing a sure bet.
The Bowl system is as exciting as paint drying.
I watch the basketball tournament and I watch the NFL, even when I don't cheer for the teams involved. Win or go home is the key. That's drama.
The NCAA should reserve 3 or 4 football games for a playoff. Most major teams play that many games against sure-win teams. The wise coach schedules enough patsies to be sure of 6 wins and a bowl. Ho-hum.
I think the $ to be reaped from a playoff would dwarf the current bowl revenue.
And there wouldn't be any arguement if a Boise St won. Win or go home produces a clear champion.

Good point! And Illinois(not a BCS top ten team) was picked because Missouri, which was a BCS(all BCS teams are supposed to play in BCS bowls) team would have been the third team(along with Oklahoma and Kansas) from their conference to be in a BCS bowl and that is outlawed by the BCS people because of I don't know why.

And.. the BSC didnt want the matchup in the Orange Bowl of #3 vs #4.. (Oklahoma vs Virginia Tech). Because if LSU wins, and Oklahoma or Vtech wins.. that would create even more controversy over a national champ.
