I have bibs - with shorts - or you can always cut off your bibs & make your own shorts. But, bibs are comfy.
  Now I can just see this ol' man out in the pasture in my bibbed "short shorts". I'd have to get me some crocs to go with them.
Well, can't be much worse than this old lady!! LOL
Actually, I hate wearing shorts out in fields of around the cows.
Throwback to my years living in Kansas and dealing with CHIGGERS!!!! My nightmare. They LOVED me & I react badly to all bug bites. To this day, when I feel grass touching my legs, I get a knot in my stomach.

I am tellin y'all baggy bib overalls and a cotton t shirt is the coolest thing you can wear and really work.
Blue jeans are like a cheap motel no ballroom.
If I get through tomorrows baling without a breakdown , I'm going to go buy a brand new set of big smith striped ones and just shytem full :)

I can deal with it all, except heatstroke. I also use a 4 wheeler when possible. Last year I actually ran out of gas in a 6ft tall stinging nettle patch wearing only a swim suit and gym shoes. That was fun, but actually got out without a single sting, but understand people have different tolerance for different conditions and my tolerance for heat is far less than a sting scrape or bite...

I don't like to wear shorts when working outside, I hate when dirt and grass sticks to my legs. Suffered through the heat in jeans for years, now wear Duluth trading dry on the fly work pants. Light weight plenty of pockets and so much cooler than jeans.

I have had skin cancer (melanoma) twice, my bother in law and niece both died from it. I wear long sleeved moisture wicking t-shirts with built in sun protection, at least SPF 50. If I need something fancy, a collared fishing shirt with similar properties. Light weight hiking pants from similar material. Wool socks (much cooler than cotton, and ankle boots. Substitute jeans if building fence or working in heavy brush. Ticks are a big problem in Va. and I prefer heat to cold anyway. And a wide brimmed hat. I like the plain khaki "boonie" hats.

I have started wearing those Magellan long sleeve "fishing" shirts. They are cheap, super light weight, and dry fast. When it's hot or im dusty and dirty I pour water on my face and kneck and arms. You can soak the shirt and it's cool and dries fast.

Only down side is they are thin, thin, thin so they are zero help in the brush.

My granddad always wore bibs and a long sleeve thermal underwear top, even in summer. I couldn't imagine wearing a thermal top in summer then or now, but he said once he started working and got it soaked with sweat, it was cooler than no shirt at all.
I'm usually wearing a plain white Haines T shirt, boots and jeans, when I'm ground bound. If I'm going to be on the tractor a lot, I wear denim cargo shorts (commando) and slip-on moccasins (no socks) (and she does think my tractor is sexy)

Dryshod 90% of the time while working, barefoot otherwise while out checking animals or whatever. Shorts and t shirt in summer, I don't do much but rotate the cows in the heat. Duluth in the winter.

Wrangler jeans, long sleeve shirt, cowboy boots, and wide brim cowboy hat in the summer. Had a very large melanoma taken off the back of my neck a few years ago. Summer time dressed like that. If it gets above 90 I wear my recliner which sits in front of the AC. Winter I add a hooded sweatshirt. Below 10 degrees I add long under wear buttons, heavier coat, and heavier gloves, maybe a wild rag. Much below 0 I put on a Stormy Kromer with the ear flaps down.

I wear shorts and tennis shoes about April through October.... no shirt or hat...and that is it. I even haul small square bales like that. There are only 2 exceptions in summer. One is when I am fooling with cattle. I will put on jeans and my boots, because I never fool with cattle without being horseback. The other is when I ride my motorcycle. Same jeans and boots, and a T-top or wife-beater is in the saddle bag in case we stop somewhere

if i'm not going to get dirty (rarely) i'll wear a linen long sleeve shirt. other than that, cheapo 100% cotton white tees.

A dirty blood stained T shirt That shows a can opener opening a can labeled 100% Condensed Whoop Azz with ratty cutoff jeans. I never wash it.

Jeans or canvas pants, long sleeve Carhartt shirt, and work boots. This is what I wear year round. When it's 40-0 degrees I'll add a hoodie or vest. Never understood how working people wear shorts or shoes. Especially people that run or own a ranch.

I bought some of those canvas type, stretchy, carhart jeans, from tsc. They come in a bunch of colors and I wanted to try them out first hunting. I've been wearing them to work in to kind of break them in. I can't decide if they are actually cooler or not. It may just be because they are new and not worn in real good yet.

They are very comfortable though.
