Had a friend send a text the other night telling me the clone of 4136 sold for 50,000, it got me thinking. I know they cloned the dam of EXT and they cloned Final Answer and EXT. Has anyone seen progeny out of the clones and if so how did they look.

never seen any, but have seen clones of other cattle. The did not look exactly the same. Mitochondrial DNA is the reason

Seen 5 clones of a holstein cow here where i live. Very difficult body structure and appearance but they were raised in today's world and not how we used to do it. Feed and management changes as fast as the cattle. Doesn't mean the clone if they raised the kind of cattle you like wont do the same

So they look more like full sibs then clones but the offspring look very similar to the originals offspring?

Yes I would say so, Genes are the same, expressed differently in ways of feeding and management. Sorry I see I first post phone really changed some words!

Monopoly has a lot of clones.... here is a link to a few

I'm not a real huge fan of clones. Seen a couple bucking bull ones in person. To me they were a novelty, but I felt like for the money spent the product was overpriced.

Everything I've seen of Monopoly I don't like that much.. looks like all clubby calf stuff.. all blow dried and fluffed, with enough hair you can make them all look the same... I can't speak to his merit for commercial production, but they certainly don't seem to try and show him off in a way that makes him appealing to simple folks like me

I agree. He makes some really nice steers for the show industry, and they hang on the rail just as good as the others, but they have a ton of hair. I was just referencing him because someone asked about the most clones a bull has.... and he has a bunch.

They look very similar. You have to really look at them to see the differences. Why was he cloned so many times?

It's like identical twins, not just sibs.

Semen production. He is still one of the most popular clubby bulls used today, and his original birth date was March 2006. You can buy semen on about 6 of the clones, that I know of. Many were put to use in pasture breeding. Once the original cell line of a clone is made, making more gets a lot cheaper. I have heard that it cost around $2000 to make a clone (after the original cell line was established). To have a clone of Monopoly walking your pastures, covering a bunch of cows, would be worth it for many producers that hit that market. Not my cup of tea, but I have had ONE Monopoly calf born to a Built Right cow. My daughter wanted a show steer. I still have the other 9 straws on him (I think it was Monopoly 5 I bought).

Fire Sweep, how did the monopoly calf turn out?
Pretty good. My daughter lost interest, so we sold him to a family that showed him on the Missouri Club Calf show circuit. Here is a picture of him as a calf. He would have been about 4 1/2 months old, I think:

Yes. I didn't like them as much as the originals and I've heard a few other people say the same thing.

I heard this on the radio a long time ago and thought it was interesting.
It's about a very gentle Brahman bull named Chance and his clone Second Chance.
