cloned pets

South Korea is opening a center to clone dogs..
I'm not too sure about this--I'd give most anything to have "Bear" back--but would it really be "Bear"?

Don't have to go that far. College Station has been doing animals for years already, among a bunch of other places.

Would a cloned Bear be Bear? Genetically yes, but a recreation of the essence of Bear, I don't think so.

thats the thing about companion animals--the "essence"--that's what made Bear Bear.. I'd imagine I could find another 100lb solid black German Shepard,but would he be safe with kids? Be kind to kittens? Be scared to death of thunder? Be absolutly 100% loyal? Cloned or not,maybe-maybe not..

If you get on National Public Radio.org there's a story about a bull a fella in Texas had cloned. It's called Second Chances. It came out a few years ago so you will have to look in the archives. It was a Braham bull that this fellow had who was super tame and he used it for photo ops all over the country. Bull died and he had it cloned. Let's just say the clone was not like the original. It's a good story. The show is called This American Life. Look in the archives of that show.
