Clipping a bull

Help Support CattleToday:

Brahmans don't have burly heads, a little thicker on the poll area but not curly or anything. As far as I know a show judge can just about do anything he wants.

You want your show animal to have hair, but hair that's been tammed and worked. When I'm showing, we always clip heads and top lines, and take down the neck and clean up around the pizzle. You need a well clipped and groomed animal for in the show ring.

Totally agree. We show Simmental, want head, topline & bottomline clean. Not meaning we shave the topline & bottomline bald - just block out the hair so that it has straight lines. Face is bald (clipped about 7 days prior to show day).
But, some breeds do NOT ALLOW ANY clipping. Check out your breed requirements.
