Cleaning a wood gun stock

My google search of the subject suggested every thing from windex, vinegar, Murphy's soap, WD-40, turpentine, soap and water, mineral oil ..... In short no real help or maybe I can use any or all????What do some of you guys use to clean the stock, not refinish, just clean?

Depends on the existing finish and how dirty

I really can't tell you much about the finish, but it's a factory finish on a ruger 10/22 with a checkered stock and a remington BDL 30/06. With luck that helps, thanks Dun.

If it's real glossy I don;t know what to use, if it's not glossyI would just use warm linseed oil and buff the snot out of it.
