I go, i go monthly. I go and get a deep tissue massage and then crack-a-lacked. I could not live without this. For so many years my body was in a twisted, spasm state..
MIL just asked if i felt better.. I dont know how many times she's told, NO i dont feel better right after, i'll hurt for days. Then i'll feel better. I feel so fortunate that i have a place to go like i do and its affordable. But today, my masseuse had some extra gumption and i'm gonna hurt tomorrow. I had tears running down my face... I'm amazed that she can tell where i'm having trouble without me saying, and she punishes that spot or spots....
Anyone here that has had thoughts of going to one, GO!....

I went to one years ago a couple of time's because my insurance paid 100% of the visit.

Next day after my last visit I couldn't stand up. My Mother was a RN. and sister in law was a LPN.

They got me in to see a regular doctor that day. The doctor order I think it was called electro alys something, some kind of massage. The nurse had some type of glove with electrodes on the finger tips.

But before she used that massage the nurse put some kind of cream on my lower back mussels that was real warm.

Gave me a shot of some kind of mussel relaxer in my back. After that was done I was back to my regular self.

Mother and sister in law said chiropractors are quacks. After my experience with them I think they are quacks too. I shouldn't have never went to them in the first place. Only reason i did was because i had been driving a dump truck 12 hours a day for a couple of weeks and I was a little stiff driving that truck for so long. Heard some of the guys I worked with talking about the chiropractor and that it was free. Our insurance paid for the whole office visit. I was in my late 20's at the time. Never imagined that a doctor's visit could mess me up. But it did.

Had a friend who's wife is on disability now after having sued a chiropractor for messing her up. She was awarded pretty large settlement too.

Other than thoes two incidents I can't say much about chiropractic medicine other than i won't ever go to one again. I think my Mother and sister in law are right. Chiropractors are quacks.

They totally helped me.. and i hope they keep me from withering like my grandmother and mother did... My mom is still alive, but she cant stand up straight and is shrinking... She thought consuming a lot of calcium was going to do the trick, she didnt want to end up like her mother all hunched over.. I think keeping my muscles in line will do the trick... I hope to find out what we can do to save my daughters from this fate... One of my daughters is hooking on going there also... My sister does the massage, but not the chiropractor... Maybe you just got a bad doctor.. I know where i go, i do not like one of the guys so i always request the one i like and does me lots of good..

There seems to be no in between with chiropractors, they're either a waste of time or they really help. I've been to both types. One did nothing but hook up the electro shock thing and leave me there. The one I go to occasionally now is terrific. Snaps my neck and back in a few places and just says come back when you feel like it.

Back in the early 90s, I left the office very messed up. Permanent problems from accumulated unrelated incidents.

Brute 23 you got hit on the tractor? How did that happen?
It's been a few years back. I had a disk behind the tractor and a lady in a Nissan car hit me from behind. She hit me hard enough to push me down the road like 100yds leaving black marks from the tractor's rear tires. It finally shucked me off to the ditch. I had turned 180 deg and was facing back where I came from as I was sliding in to the bottom v of the ditch. The tractor was starting to flip and I thought I was done for.

The only thing that saved me was the disk jack knifed and was up against the inside tire which was off the ground. The hitch on the tractor and disk was bent from the tractor trying to roll.

It killed my back and fajita section. In the moment I felt fine but couldnt move the next morning. My parents had to go get my grandmother's crown vic to get me to the dr because I couldnt ride in a truck. I actually took tequila shots also just to tolerate the ride.

It was almost a month with muscle relaxers and chiropractor visits before I could ride in a truck or go off the pavement.

Some types of soft tissue damage can take much longer to heal than broken bones. You are a lucky man to still be here.

Nothing beats a good Osteopath. They are full on medical doctors that specialize in the muscular/skeletal system. A good one will find the reasons why you keep getting out of joint and correct the root problem, rather than just deal with the symptom. Went to the chiro for years, he'd pop me in, I'd pop back out. Got to where my posture looked like a question mark. ? In great pain constantly. The osteo treated my muscle problem that caused the joint pain, stretched and relaxed the side that spasmed, strengthened the weak side that was pulled by the spasms. Found that one leg was 5mm shorter due to all this, so we put a lift in my shoes to help. after a year, my body straightened out, no more heel lift. That's been 20 years ago, and I just live life. Still have the occasional ache, but not the debilitating like it was. You won't regret it if you go see one.

I go to the chiropractor when I need to. The one I use is great. I almost always feel better after I leave. Occasionally I will have to go back two or three times a few days apart to get something back in line. She doesn't charge anything for the additional visits. This lady stays very busy. She will refer you out if it is a structural problem. I messed up my shoulder a few years ago. She felt around on it and referred me to a shoulder specialist if it didn't feel better in a week. She gave me to exercises to do in the meantime.

I have heard many stories of people who go visit the chiropractor and get worse. I agree that chiropractors seem to be either really good or really bad. I would not randomly pick one out of a phone book.

I had this rib that was out for years. Felt like a pinch in my side EVERY day.. I had someone show me how to get it out and although it worked some, i had to do it every day. One session at the chiropractor and he had it back in place... At first i just went when i was hurting.. But they started this monthly thing where i get a 30 min deep tissue massage and then an adjustment for $45. Its the massage that keeps things in line. If you have a muscle pulling, tugging, it needs to be put in its place....literally. Most of my 30s amd 40s i spent in pain. If i had just know about this place... I think what is happening to my mother is she bends to avoid pain and has been for years. Its misshaped her body so bad she cant even stand straight. My plan is to keep my muscles aligned and joints together right. Its muscles that is my problem, its what pulls the joints out of joint...

That is what they were telling me. It was a bad case of whiplash basically due to the short seat and no should restraint of a tractor.

I still get a burning in my spine between my shoulder blades if I work partially bent over like weed eating, dishes, that kind of stuff. Probably have to address that at a later date.

Car wrecks are never any fun. I've wreck plenty on dirt bikes was easier to recover. (Knock on wood) them car wrecks shoooo wee. I didn't even like bumper cars as a kid. I was in a 4 car pile up. This truck stopped short I stopped the Ram behind me didn't stop and the next ram didn't stop. I got smashed in all them. The nice red truck in front left. I had what ya'll talking about pulled muscle, still acts up sometimes. I call its my Ram. They thought I broke my neck apparently whiplash real bad.
Now days I feel thankful getting from point A to B and back to A safety. I get anxiety how some this people drive plus texting and driving.

I was doing cryotherapy twice a week for a few months. Really helped keep my knees moving

I believe my chiropractor kept me from being totally crippled. A GOOD one is worth their weight in gold. I had a car wreck, spent alot of time in the hospital, multiple surgeries for hand damage, other stuff. But they told me that they couldn't do anything more for me after 2 years of back and forth appts and MRI's , you name it; and that the right arm would not lift above my shoulder height...and the pain was constant. Finally one of my farmers told me about his chiropractor and I made an appt. They did full x-rays of the spine, neck down. I had had a C -2 fracture in the wreck also.... broken neck basically.

In 2 visits I could lift my arm above the shoulder and it didn't hurt with normal stuff.

This wreck was in 1989. I suffered until 1991.....

He gave me back the movement in my arm/shoulder. And has made a comment more than once that I have been hard on my body. He worked on my knees and ankle everytime I went. He is not a proponent of alot of surgery and such, but agreed that there was not much else he could do for the knee and ankle joints with the damage and subsequent arthritis.

He doesn't walk on water, but he sure keeps me in moveable shape with my neck and back.

My wife is a believer in Chiropractors, she was involved in a bad wreck years ago and has neck and back pain. They seem to help her short term but she has to go almost monthly. I think they are probably are helpful in some cases. I'm not all together sold on it for every situation though. When we were first married and she was new in town, she went to a Chiropractor here and wanted me to go in the office with her. I sat in the waiting room where they had a tv going with a continuous video of the benefits of chiropractic, and various products. I'm a very skeptical and sometimes cynical person when it comes to some things. I saw it as a money thing especially due to the video seeming to suggest the need for chiropractic services for all ages. She wasn't very impressed with that office either and now goes to another that she likes much better. They seem to be good people, It seems like some people are firm believers in it, and if it helps them that's great, just like I'm supportive of my wife going as she says it really helps her. Part of me though, kind of likens the concept that they or a certain lifestyle or products can cure whatever ails you to the belief that some have that sasquatches are real.
