Help Support CattleToday:

Polled is genetically hornless. A polled animal can either be homozygous polled - two polled genes. Heterozygous polled means one horn gene one polled gene. Polled is dominant so an animal with one polled gene or two horned genes will be polled. Flushing as it is commonly used refers to flushing fertiled eggs for furhter implantation in recipent cows. It also refers to feeding a special ration to increase condition and hopefully fertility.

because polled is dominant, all the offspring from a homozygous polled animal will be polled....so if you use polled bulls, you won't have to dehorn your calves.

Only if the bull is homozygous, not just polled
