Showing cattle is fun! A couple of common since skills will help push you into the top ten per cent. The most important of which is TLC, tender loving care, will allow you to demonstrate your skills and the animals traits to their best. Add good feed, feet care and some thought to picking your project you'll enjoy your project and you might increase your chances of winning.

My personal favorite is the use of "touch" or " Tailhead stimulation" to produce very calm cattle. This adds to safety on and off the show ring and allows you to catch the judges eye. Be sure to smile and project your knowledge, wear clean clothes and polish your boots.

Keep your training secessions short and sweet, and reward your animal with a nice tailhead rub when you are done. To see all this in a real herd come walk my fields, both the cows and bulls are safe to walk with and trusting to handle. We even ride our bulls!

Be the same person on and off the show ring and win or lose just be proud of your effort.
