I just thought you folks might be encouraged by the recent special cow sale about 50 miles north of Springfield Missouri that was held Sat. 12/27/2003. They had around 800 head of cows. The slaughter market was reported by friends to be 42 to 52 cents and the stock cows were still $1050 to $1300. The auctioneer said before the sale that the prices would be just the same as before b.s.e.

mike Its good to hear about those prices. I really think that bred cattle prices will stay fairly strong- maybe lower on short-termers. Still people out there that need cows- and you have to have that "momma cow" if you want to sell calves. Their will probably be quite a few buyers at some of the first sales trying to "steal" something, but I don't think the demand has dropped that much.

Good to hear and good luck to anybody that bought those cows. They are definetaly some gamblers.
