I am using a program called the Firm from the university of Tn. It is a new release that I am helping to debug -meaning I can crash anything. It is easy to use,has almost unlimited cow/calf number capacity, and should be priced under $100.00. Right now I have over 900 calves and 350 cows entered with 5 years of birth dates,ww,yw,sales and more reports than you can use.I also have the AIMS program from the American Angus Association. It is alot more involved but still not hard to use. They are also starting a beef record service for commercial cows.If I can help send me an e-mail.

Check out CattlePro 2000. CattlePro has different versions to suit different types of producers from a small herd of commercial or crossbred cattle to a version for the registered breeder. I purchased the software. It is easy to use and the support staff can't be beat. Check them out at http://www.cattlepro.com
: I am looking for a program that is both comprehensive and user friendly to manage a herd in the range of 1-250 mother cows.
: An overview and any information regarding cost etc. would be appreciated.

CattlePro is a great sounding program. Unfortunately, the cost is prohibitive..one thing I liked about AgriDataPro besides having a lot of the same features is it is about 1/5 the price.
: Check out CattlePro 2000. More than five years ago I was making an internship at Texas A&M University. While I was there (I am from Argentina) I wanted to buy the best cattle management software available to take back home. I asked professors and staff and they all recommended CattlePro ... but it wasn´t until I walked around the commercial booths at the Short Beef Cattle Course the University organizes every year, that I met my destiny ... CattlePro ...from Bowman Farm Systems Inc. Now I represent the company and distribute software for all Spanish speaking countries around the world and locally ... my cows have never been so analyzed as since I incorporated CattlePro software into the management system of the Ranch!!!

Some have mentioned price and that is important! Does the lower price program offer trouble shooting and service or are you on your own after you pay!

What's less expensive a program that costs more but has excellent service that allows a user to accomplish the goal that brought him/her to purchase the program OR a low cost program that may work well if you have the ability to trouble shoot if the lower cost program doesn't have good or any tech support.
