For those of you that have catered a fairly large event, how many pound of potatoes do I need for mashed potatoes for 80 people ?

Also how many litres of roast gravy do I need as well ??

Thanks..

It's mom and dad's 50th in a 2 weeks and we are doing the buffet ourselves.

Hey, it has a salad menu too. :p

HD be very careful with anything that says Angelfire on it. Used to be the best place to get a virus.

On the taters and gravy.

Figure 3 to 5 oz per person of finished product on the potatoes

1.5 to 2 oz of gravy per person/ cna't tell you about litres

I hope you are going to have help peeling all those things... I guess you can put Angie in your trunk and smuggle her over the border to help. I saw a pickup yesterday that was absolutely full to overbrimming with canteloupe. Want me to send him your way? I don't honestly see how he kept from losing them. They were huge, too. Like soccer balls. Should have followed him. :D I just have little green babies in the garden right now.

Smuggling people in trunks across the border is something that I'll bet you people have a bit of experience with down there! :help: I am thinking Lammie that you should send her a bunch of your purple potatoes ~ add a festive flair to the doings. And while you are there delivering, you just might want to grab a peeler...... ;-)

Lammie, Angie what do you mean peel potatoes ?? You mean we have to peel them before boiling them ? :???:

The hall is 2 miles from us and has lots of room for RV's so a few people will be coming Friday already. Anyone that shows up early will be put to work and given a peeler.. ;-)

HD, Word is you've sent invitations to your friends on CT forums :( I haven't received mine yet :cry2:
Bet you don't have my address. :compute: I'm pm ing it now. :cowboy:

Actually, we have invited ourselves (by "we" I mean "I" ).
I just know hd will be thrilled to have us! ----> :help:
Lammie is swinging by to pick me and MM up, if we get stopped at the border send BL ~ she knows the drill! Save us a place at the table.

Potatoes are white.

As far as invitations, I gave a blanket PM to all of you . I don't know why you didn't get it mnm? But bring your RV's and come on up/down..Also I need a new fence and a new deck built so you all might as well make yourselves useful while you are here.. ;-)

I have potato peelers waiting.. :lol2:

Here is the menu
Prime rib roast (with CKC's famous horse radish recipe), baked ham , cabbage rolls, potatoes with gravy, baked beans, broccoli/cauliflower, baby carrots, vegetable platter, coleslaw ,pasta salad , garden salad, ambrosia salad and pink salad.

Midnight lunch is just a meat and cheese tray with pickles and buns.
It is a weekend thing so anything left over will be brought out for guests on Sunday for lunch.

Wow, that's quite a menu. You are giving the buffet at the casino a run for their money. At least some things can be made ahead. Hope everything comes out great and you aren't working too hard to enjoy the time with your guests.

Hey Angie! COOL  We'll "bus pool". BL she said She will be the designated driver. I'm afraid that only applies to the trip up. The Boss Lady just loves Molsons
I ain't much of a tater peeler, at least not with one hand. :drink: but I know how to tap kegs.
I can work on fence, as long as the Molson goes along. :cowboy:
I don't think we need worry about designated driver on the way down. I'm thinking after a few days, HD will make sure we are out of there.
