carcass steer

I'm back again. First I want to Thank all of the Ranchers for their response to my first post. Question is how long on feed and how old should a carcass steer be for next years 2004-Jan. 2005 show weighing about 1200 pounds. Grandson is in the Corpus Tex. area looking to try and find a 3/4 angus cross to feed this year.

that's a question w/no one right answer. age and length of time on feed will depend on the breed. the steer i mentioned earlier that was hereford/brangus & was reserve champion (graded prime) would have been almost 13 months old and on feed from about aug (weaning) to january. (it also went to a show in the corpus area.)
