New Cook County Correctional Center, Chicago , Illinois

( I guess if I ever break the law, I'd better do it in Illinois !
Homeless people should have it so good!)
Once again the taxpayer gets stung.

It also shows that in most cases the quality of life for prisoners has improved considerably from what you might expect.
And I always thought prison was for punishment.!!!!!
Just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up, this comparison chart should make things a little bit clearer:
@ PRISON
You spend most of your time in a 10X10 cell
@ WORK
You spend most of your time in a 6X6 cubicle

@ PRISON
You get three fully paid for meals a day
@ WORK
You get a break for one meal, and you have to pay for it

@ PRISON
For good behavior, you get time off
@ WORK
For good behavior, you get more work

@ PRISON
The guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you
@ WORK
You must carry a security card and open all the doors yourself

@ PRISON
You can watch TV and play games
@ WORK
You could get fired for watching
TV and playing games

@ PRISON
You get your own toilet
@ WORK
You have to share the toilet with
people who pee on the seat

@ PRISON
They allow your family and friends to visit
@ WORK
You aren't even supposed
to speak to your family

@ PRISON
All expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required on your part
@ WORK
You must pay all your expenses to go
to work, and they deduct taxes from
your salary to pay for prisoners

@ PRISON
You spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out
@ WORK
You spend most of your time wanting
to get out and go inside bars

@ PRISON
You must deal with sadistic wardens
@ WORK
They are called 'managers'

THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE.

All good points.
I still don't want to swap with anyone in the Cook County Jail.

I don't either but it really depends on what you are doing time for. A high school friend of mine ended up getting caught for some illegal importation. Was sentenced to 21 years, got out in 4. Though he was in jail, his ill-gotten-gain waited on the outside as did his sweetheart. Way he figured it - as he explained it - 4 years in an institution such as this was a small price to pay for the chance of early retirement and he was the first in my high school class to retire. He now lives in an exclusive community where the rich folks live. Kinda counters the idea that 4 years of "college" no longer guarantees anything and how well our justice system detters crime.

Nose candy is what I think they called it in the 80's. Don't approve of what he did and was actually shocked he did it but he always was a thrifty person hunting a way to make a buck.

Once again, our dollars at work. They should let me design and run the prisons. You would not want to visit with me....

I agree with you. While I'm glad he is out of jail I can't see where he got what he deserved. Afterall, its no telling how many lives he ruined or families he destroyed. I'd like to see the old Reidesville Prison Farm System get up and running like it used to be. If the prisoners didn't raise it, pick it - they didn't eat. And most were too tired to get in too much trouble.

You have to call the prison home.

I get to go home at night from work.

No matter what the prison looks like, it is still a prison.

Well now, aren't you an intelligent one. So the e mail that was circulating at the time was a hoax. Did you manage to peruse the rest of the threads on the board? Your judgement is unfound and uncalled for. A coward at work.....

You people are idiots. This prison is in Austria. Nothing but sheep.

so it took you a year and a half to notice?? Took you that long for a come-back?? :lol2: :lol2:

It's LONG been around that the original email gave the wrong location.

Thanks for the timely update! :dunce:
