Some news from Dubuc Charolais, even though we have some nights at -20°F and below calving time is going smootly. 46 calves on the ground with 2 pairs of twins. 26 males 20 females. The second calf were backward on the 2 pairs and 1 was upside down on an older cow but most of the other cows calved without problems.

So glad to get started with this year's calving reports from you. I wish tonight that we had some facilities like yours. It has been in the 13 to 16 F degree range .. but with driving snow and sleet and it is miserable out there. Have a few newborns that we could only put out extra rolls of hay, and hope they make it through the night. This storm is unusual for us; to be so hard blowing snow and sleet... and so cold. Usually when we get some weather it warms up a bit.....
Congrats on the saves on the twins... your cows just don't know how lucky they are for you to be their owners.

So, they make ear muffs for calves ? :)

Always like to see your photos! Very nice cattle and facilities. If there was a smaller distance between us, a bull from your farm or some heifers sure would be very welcome here!

We lost our first calf yesterday, we suspect a malformation, he never breathe right, but this morning a cow had twins so we took the second calf who was not licked and gave him to the cow who lost her calf. So 2 cows with 1 calf each, everyone seem happy, calving22 continues...

Sad and happy all at the same time!

Did the one who lost hers readily accept the new one?
