calving problems

Have had 3 hiefers abort or have their calves born dead in the last 2 days. and the hiefers are taking 2 days to finish cleaning out. and the calves are about 2 weeks early. all shots are up to date, good health,on the hiefers,they even produce milk. any input would be appreciated...thanks

Where are u located? There is a tick in Northern California that when it bites a pregnant animal it causes them to abort. However once they are bit they are immune to it for life. So friends of ours expose their young heifers before breeding or just count on loosing them on older cows/ heifers brought in already bred. UC Davis is currently doing research on the tick. Not sure as to the name or more info sorry! Good luck to ya! Lepto would be my guess even with up to date shots. Did you vaccinate for Lepto? Good Luck to ya! Email me if you need help
