My first calf of the year hit the ground today, a nice red angus heifer calf. She came about two weeks early but that's what I get for buying bred heifers. In all seriousness she looks good and hit the ground without any assistance and is up and running around like any healthy should. I'll post some pics if I can figure out how. Let the fun begin.

That's good. I found my first little heifer of the year as I was feeding this a.m. Wasn't expecting any calves before the first week of March at the earliest. Good luck.

I love waking up to finding calves!

I was not (mistakenly) anticipating any this year... We have been leaning towards IA, but our own bull didn't want to leave last year, so he's already proven his domination two times, and likely a third.

And just to keep it interesting, some heifers that we bought for quick turnaround are turning out to be bred as well.

So this year already, we are up to 3 - all bull calves. :D
