Indeed. Cow did spent quite long time not standing, but after a good rest she finally stood up. Wasn't a hard pull with the jack, but it sure should have been painfull to get such calf out. That 1st picture wasn't looking good on the cow. 2nd picture was great!! No matter what you have to do to get then out, it's always great to see the cow AND calf up & going.
Finally, another newborn. 292 days gestation, bull calf, unassisted, by simmental bull. The third calf for the cow.

The sire:
I hope so. Wanted a heifer, but this year seems to be bulls year hereI bet that calf will be a chunk. They caught that bull when he was feeling good.
You've got a lot of mud where you live. Or is that a plowed field behind?I hope so. Wanted a heifer, but this year seems to be bulls year herehowever will have a sexed 75% sim calf from a heifer, so at least that one should be a heifer!
Bright strong calf though, so happy about that and weather seems okay for leaving newborns outside.

It's what left after mud season in cows pen. It's getting more dry by each day, but the damage is done to the field. You've got a lot of mud where you live. Or is that a plowed field behind?
That's even worse than South Dakota (USA) gumbo.View attachment 56357
That's when it was wet just two weeks ago.
