As expected bull calf. Will weigh tomorrow with the previous calf. Does seem smaller than a blue calf, but this one has more flesh on his bones, so that could add some weight. Overall not too bad for such long gestation.

I doubt, but everything can happen. This one is pretty big, but he is long and fleshy. All this adds weight.

Can't wait to see pics of him on his feet. You should start a thread with all of the Belgian Blue calves and post pics every couple of months.

That's a good idea. Next blue calf is due at the end of March, so it could be a good start and also an update on the first blue calf.

Weighed parthenaise bull calf too. He looks to have lost abit of weight though. Weighed 92,6lbs today. I believe he was closer to 95 at birth.

Not unusual for human babies to lose weight right after birth. I'd imagine calves do too.

9 days old and really standing out. Real lovely nature and lively calf. Soon to be released into the wild! 😅
Limousine bull calf is already enjoying his freedom.
The injured calf sure will spend way more time in the shed than others. I'm pretty sure that his tough first day will leave it's trace in his performance. He isn't 100% healthy now. Way slower than other calves and has somekind of weakness. However, nursing well and bright.

Abit of an update of calves while waiting for the new arrival.
The parthenaise calf with an injured leg. Still treating his leg. He is slower than other calves, but he's growing, so that's a good sign.
Blue calf. One month and 4 days old in the pic. He should be some heavy weanling in the future!
Pure lim, which had dead twins was already in heat two days ago. Next her heat will be a start of a new AI season. She also had her tail stood on by the herdmate and ripped the skin of the tip of the tail exposing bones. Had to do a small surgery to remove those and an extra vertebrae to close the wound.

Ouch!! You did a great job.
You don't appreciate the depth and thickness of the blue roan because of the white on top and bottom makes him APPEAR shallow/gutless. He is a tank.

Will be interesting to see which one from two bigger bull calves will be heavier at the weaning. The roan one has a bit of disadvantage as his dam is less milky, but so far he grows real well and is massive.

Some of the March bellies.
Due one the 13th of March. Incalf to culard Charolais.
Due on the 14th, incalf to Dutch improved red beef bull.
Due on the 10th, incalf to Charolais.
Due on the 27th, incalf to Blonde. This one is huge, so there either will be the first set of twins in her whole family history, or a big calf. She did calved 110lbs bull calf unassisted as a heifer, so there shouldn't be problems with bigger calf. But I do hope for a heifer 🤞
This one actually is due on the 11th of April, as she held on the second try. Incalf to Parthenaise.
This one due on the 2nd of April. Will be the second cow incalf to the new herdbull. His first calf is due on the 1st of April.
The next cow to calve is due on the 28th of February, so she is real close. Hopefully won't carry for long and will give me a heifer, as she is my own cow! Also she is the one, which had a leg injury as a weanling and is kept separate from the herd. Will be the 4th calf to her. Her daughter will be for AI this summer.
