It depends on the size of the calf and cow/heifer, and how far in or out of the birth canal. A calf will start to hang its tongue out when it is starting to get into distress, this can happen well before you see it. <p>A good rule of thumb is about 20-30 minutes from when you see the waterbag with the front feet.
