Hello eveyone, :D

I have a week and a half old calf that is on a nurse cow. It scoured at first but is now constipated. Any suggestions? :???:

A little calf like that, only getting milk, doesn't crap much anyway. If he seems in discomfort, you could oil him. I believe I'd just let nature run its course if it was sucking and seemed fine.

Sometimes after having scours, the pasty stuff will dry on their poop shoot and block it. If this is the case, warm water and a rag should get it off. You can even soak it with some baby oil to loosen it.

In foals we often use a child size mineral oil enema. Very gently squeeze it, with out much force. The Meconium that they pass after birth can be as hard as little rocks. But at a week and a half old, your calf should be past that.

Thanks for the info, i will try some oil.The calf is sucking the nurse cow just fine, but he seems to strugle alot when trying void, and the waste is realy thick.
