I guess somebody is taking Trump seriously. This place is so screwed up now. How is that constitutionally possible?

I thought this was outrageous so I looked into it. According to the Orange Country Register, illegals will NOT be eligible to vote. See http://www.ocregister.com/articles/vote ... ornia.html

The law will allow those with driver licenses to vote unless they opt out, but an important exception is that those with so-called AB60 drivers licenses (illegals) will NOT be registered to vote: "In California, undocumented immigrants can obtain driver’s licenses through a new law known as AB60... the Motor Voter Act prohibits the DMV from registering AB60 driver’s license applicants."

Good to know.

So you believe the media (Orange County Register)? Why are they passing a law if there is not anything to be concerned about?

The "law" allowed them to obtain AB60 drivers licenses.

It sounds like the typical facebook ruse.. misquoted, mostly false crap that goes viral because no one checks the facts.. Thank you boondocks for looking it up!

Sorry, I didn't mean to mislead anyone. I looked up the publication and it appeared legitimate. I guess you really can't believe everything you read.

It won't happen. There was talk of it for a while but most of the illegals are fairly conservative so they didn't want to run the risk of turning the state red.

I have no reason to think the Orange County Register is not a reasonably accurate source of information. (FWIW, and you probably know, Orange County is a well-known Republican stronghold. Home of Nixon, John Wayne, etc etc).

But just for snix, I just read the text of the law, and also the state constitution, to which the law refers. It is quite clear that illegals cannot vote; only citizens can.
Text of the law here: http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces ... 0160AB1461
California constitution here (relevant section): http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/.const/.article_2 ("A United States citizen 18 years of age and resident in this State may vote."). Don't know how it could be made clearer.

Personally, I'm more worried about the Russians trying to clip our underwater cables and ISIS trying to take out the electric grid, both of which were reported today.
