calf

We have a hand reared calf about 4 weeks old. He was in very bad shape when we got him, but gave him antibiotics and after a battle got him to suck from a bottle. He is now doing well but has not started to graze yet. However, he has started eating dirt. Is this anything to be worried about? He is on milk replacement powder and we're trying to get him started on calf meal as well.

Had a little brahma bull calf that eat dirt gave him everything and he still did it but he turned out just fine.

You got it Cert. They will dabble in minerals at a couple of weeks old. This calf should already be eating calf starter though. 8)
