Looks like he got it caught in something.I lanced it and got a lot of puss out of it and gave him 8 cc of agrimycin 200.He is close to 150 lbs.Did I do good? What else can i look forward to doing to him in the next few days? Will he need more shots and draining?I have him inside so I can doctor him more ,no problem. He dont have no open wounds or anything broken.Just a bad scrap above his hoof. Thanks much for your time....idontno

Myself, I would give him penicillin for at least 3 days in a row. The only reason I say that is that when my brother has brought animals back from the vet after having something invasive done, he's been told to give penicillin 3 days in a row to stave off infection.

Also, I'd use some sort of wound spray on it.

Just my 2 cents.

Where was it swollen at? Check between the toes to make sure there is nothing stuck in it. Keep him out of the mud and manure. Keep the flys out of it best you can. Give him another dose of meds per label instructions and watch him. He should be fine.
