This is the first year I have kept weight records on my calves and I was wondering if these situation/weights were above or below average.

Angus cross-92 BW at age 2 months 240 pounds

Highland- 51 BW at age 3 months 260 pounds

Thanks, Shelby

I think you are right on target. You are averaging 2.46 lbs per day on the AngusX and 2.32 lbs per day on the Highland. If this gain continues you should have a 504 lb. Angus at 205 days, and a 475 lb Highland at 205 days of age. The daily gain may be improved with the choose of gentics for the next breeding. good luck

Correction, I forgot to add in the birth weight. Your 205 day weight would be 596 lbs for the Angus and 531 lbs for the Highland. Sorry for the mistake.

Thanks, I was wondering because the angus X mother is half sister to a bull who at 16 months weighs in at about 1200 pounds or more. Plus the bull was orphaned at one month old and was put on solid food only. So I think he did a nice job of catching up.
