I have a 1 month calf who has developed a growing lump on the bottom of her jaw. It has grown in two weeks to small superball size, It is hard and does not move. It is not a grub. It is not open or ozzing anything. Any ideas or guesses that I explore? Thanks

I checked this calf again so a little more info. The lump is in the skin. I slid a finger between her teeth/jaw and under the lump and realized it is in the skin. I also checked the lump and no opening, discharge etc. It is hard but not as solid or immovable as I first thought. My next step is going to be to lance it unless I hear something back with other ideas. (My first thought was cut->infection, then I was swayed off of that, because there was no cut to the skin. But I am now moving back to infection but cut may have been inside the mouth. Still no heat, not really tender no discolor around the lump, lump seems to be a mass so.... not 100% sure.) Any ideas would be a great help. Thanks again.

I HAVE A 3 WEEK OLD HOLSTEIN BULL CALF THAT I AM BOTTLE FEEDING THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I ASKED MY VET ABOUT IT OVER THE PHONE. HE SAID HE WOULD PROBABLY LANCE IT, BASED ON THE DESCRIPTION. LUNKER
