My 11 week old calf is displaying patches of hair loss (the largest about 3" in diameter). Around the bare (somewhat raw skin area) is a coating of white, very thick residue about 1/16th" thick - resembles flour & water that has dried. When a scratch at that it flakes off bringing with it more hair. What is this and how can I control & treat it? For the moment I am spraying the affected areas with Iodine (1% Titratable Iodine & 65% Isopropanol 99%). Certainly appreciate your comments. With thanks. Bev
